So it’s easy to focus on the vanity metrics like number of subscribers and think that more is better. The more subscribers you have, the more money you’ll make.

Yes, people with tons of subscribers can make six figures or more. I’ve played that game before. I’ve even built the YouTube channel of my previous business to over 600,000 subscribers – and yes, that was a 7-figure biz!

But there were a lot of things I learned from that business that I’ve applied to my current business and now I earn just as much with a tiny FRACTION of the subscribers of that biz.

YouTube Rule #2: Subscriber growth is not your number one metric.

In Rule #1, I mentioned the term “vanity metrics.” It’s the number that makes people feel good, but doesn’t make them money.

A big subscriber number is a nice flex to tell people about, but I know it never truly reflects the health of a business. These vanity metrics are distractions! Red herrings that can lead you astray and make you focus on the entirely wrong things. I don’t want that to happen to you.
